Applications

SiSiB® silanes are versatile materials used in a wide range of applications including:
Silane Coupling Agent, Silane Adhesion Promoter, Silane Hydrophobing Agent, Silane Dispersing Agent, Silane Crosslinking Agent, Silane Moisture Scavenger, Polypropylene Catalyst "Donor" Silane, Silicate Stabilizer, Polyurethane Endcapper Silane, Silane Drying Agent, Silane Curing Agent, Silane Reinforcer, Silylating Agent, Silane Reducing Agent, Silyl Building Blocks and Synthons etc.

Phenyl functional silanecan improve thermal stability of other silanes.
Phenyl functional silane can be used as other silanes and siloxanes intermediates.
Phenyl functional silane can be used for hydrophobic surface treatment.
Phenyl functional silane can be used as hydrophobic additive to other silane coupling agents.

SiSiB® PC8131 reacts faster with water than SiSiB® PC8132.

SiSiB® PC8131 is used to modify the suface of inorganic fillers such as wollastonite and aluminum trihydroxide. It makes the surface of these inorganic fillers more hydrophobic and thus increases their dispersability in mineral-filled polymers. SiSiB® PC8131 is especially suited for polymers that are processed at elevated temperatures. SiSiB® PC8131 reduces the viscosity of the polymer melt.

In many sol-gel applications SiSiB® PC8131 is partially hydrolyzed to form a preproduct that can be further crosslinked using temperature. This pre-hydrolysis is often made in conjunction with alkyl silanes (SiSiB® PC5132) or other organofunctional silanes (e.g. SiSiB® PC3100), silicic acid esters, or even an aqueous silica sol.
